| Has Haiti Been Cursed By God? |

Christians often attribute good times and good fortune to being blessings of God. Times of "feast" are met with rejoicing and praising God. It is a natural experience to desire to praise God from who all blessing flow, when the blessings are flowing. What happens when the good times are swallowed by adversity, challenges, set backs and even death? Do we attribute the hard times to the devil? Has God cursed us and allowed satan to have free reign in our situation? This is when we have to rely on the Word of God when it says that ,"all things work together for good for those that love God and are the called according to His purpose." Over the past few weeks, since the tragic earthquake in Haiti, many people have sought to bring meaning to this event. Pat Robertson, a prominent figure in the Christian community surmised that the horrific earthquake experienced by millions of Haitians can be attributed directly to the curse God placed on that nation -- from a pact they made with the devil. If this assumption is true, what does that say about the disasters we experience here in America? Are they are direct result of sin? Evidently it is rare these days in Haiti to find anyone who doesn't want to hear about Jesus or be prayed for.
(Port-au-Prince, Haiti)—Baptist Press has published the remarkable story of the saved son of a Voodoo priest, 26-year-old Jean Junior Cineas, who has dedicated his life to bringing his fellow Haitians to Christ.
"It gives me joy to [share Christ]," said Cineas. "I love to do that. It is my life."
As noted in the report, Cineas says voodoo's influence has diminished and many Haitians are now calling on God. In fact, it's reportedly rare for him to meet someone who does not what to be prayed for or hear about Jesus.
