In The Field: A Modern Day Missions Trip
Written by Say So! Editors

god_is_posterThe Bible instructs us to "go ye therefore, and teach all nations," in Matthew 28.  This command is the foundation of the call of missionaries -- those that travel to foriegn lands to share the gospel with unbelievers.  Christian missionaries are often thought of as historical figures, going deep into uncharted lands to preach to primative, polytheistic cultures but the missions field is very much active in the modern day.

Marilyn Hickey Ministries offers group trips to different locations around the world.  This spring the ministry will focus on Greece and Albania.  Her website states:

"Our passion and purpose is to build bridges of trust and respect with nations worldwide.  We work directly with local churches and ministries to host Citywide Healing Meetings and Leadership Conferences.  You’ll pray for the sick and share the gospel with my ministry team in these meetings.  In addition, we are able to distribute humanitarian aid to the needy."

terrye_at_trainstationFor the next couple of weeks, Say So! Magazine will be following one of our readers on a modern day missions trip.  Rev. Terrye Ashby of New Solid Rock Fellowship Church, Baltimore, MD felt the call in her heart to "go ye therefore" and didn't hesitate when the opportunity presented itself through Marilyn Hickey Ministries.

When Terrye shared with the editors of Say So! that she would be going on this trip we jumped at the chance to get an insider's perspective of a modern day missions trip.  We will be sharing portions of Terrye's travel journal with you as she experiences being out in the field.  Enjoy.

We finally made it to our destination. It is 4:30 p.m. here and we are oh, so tired. I have free Internet, but I'm not sure how I will keep the juice in my laptop. We will be here for 4 nights. The international flight on Turkish Air was incredible. The first class seats looked like outer space pods. The plane was huge and the gourmet style airplane food was delicious. The flight attendants were extremely attentive. We had a layover in Istanbul and then continued on to Tirana, Albania. It's a beautiful, mountainous country. Hopefully, I'll be able to get better shots on tomorrow's tour.
